Making wise decisions when choosing new garden gates
Choosing New Garden Gates
One thing you can be sure of, and that is that garden gates aren’t exactly what you would call an impulse buy, the sort of thing you decide to get when you’re out shopping. There can be several reasons why you might decide to have some new gates installed, ranging from replacement of old gates, changing the style of existing gates, or putting in gates that up until now do not exist, but each and every one of them requires a great deal of thought before making a final decision.
So what about the budget, something which very few of us can afford to ignore and will often be regulated by the reason why you are having electric gates installed in the first place as let’s be honest, there is little point in spending £20,000 replacing old gates if your intention is simply to spruce up the look of your home before you sell it? However, if the gates are for you personally to enjoy for a long time then you may consider increasing the budget accordingly. On the other side of the coin, sometimes you can overthink a new project too much and lose sight of what would perhaps best suit your property and also meet with your needs. You may decide early on that you would really like to have electric gates, but that doesn’t solve the dilemma of whether you want electric wooden gates or electric metal gates installed. Then of course comes the question of whether you want swinging electric gates or sliding electric gates, this latter choice often decided by the topography of the ground where you intend to have them installed.
Then of course there is the question of security and privacy. These two factors again can have a heavy influence on whether to choose a pair of solid wooden electric gates or wrought iron to fulfil your requirements. Solid wooden gates are, by their very nature, ideal if you are looking to increase privacy and stop people looking into your property as they wander or drive past, but if you live in the countryside then this is unlikely to be an issue and the actual appearance of the gates takes greater priority.
Of course there comes the question of security, something electric gates will automatically add to but their height and finish at the top can heavily influence how great a deterrent they would be to unwanted visitors. Security can also extend to the access method used for the gates, whether it is simply opening them by hand, having them remotely operated with a remote control fob in your car, or extended further with the use of a combination keypad. The choices are almost as broad as they are long.
