Electric Gate Maintenance & Servicing

Home » Services » Automatic Gate Maintenance

An automated gate is a piece of moving machinery that lives outdoors and runs several times a day, every day. Servicing keeps it safe and reliable, and it is considerably cheaper than replacing a motor that has been grinding against a misaligned hinge for a year.

TPS runs a fleet of 12 fully equipped service vehicles covering Gloucestershire, Bristol, Cheltenham, Herefordshire, Worcester and the wider South West. We service gates we installed and gates we did not, on all major automation systems.

What an Electric Gate Service Includes

A proper service is more than a squirt of grease. Every visit covers:

How Often Should Automatic Gates Be Serviced?

For a domestic gate on a single household, once a year is the sensible baseline. Gates that open and close many times a day, sit on a busy road, or serve several properties are better on a six-monthly cycle, because wear scales with use rather than with time.

If your gate has never been serviced, or you have just moved into a property with one already installed, start with an inspection. We will tell you what condition it is actually in rather than assuming.

Signs Your Gate Needs Attention

Any of these is worth a call. A gate that fails to close properly is a security problem as well as a mechanical one.

Gate Servicing Contracts

We offer routine maintenance contracts for all systems, which schedule the visit for you rather than leaving it to be remembered. Contracts also keep your installation guarantee in line with our servicing requirements.

Breakdowns and Emergency Response

Our service fleet is fully tracked, so when a gate fails we can send whoever is closest rather than whoever is free on Thursday. If your gate is stuck open, stuck shut, or has become unsafe, call us and we will get it moving again with the minimum delay.

What Happens in a Power Cut?

Every automated gate we install has a manual release, so a power cut does not trap you in or out. Part of each service is confirming that release still works and that you know how to use it. If you have never been shown, ask the engineer on the next visit.

Where We Cover

Our engineers service automatic gates across Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bristol, Herefordshire and Worcester, plus Cirencester, Bath, the Cotswolds, Monmouthshire and the West Midlands. If your gate needs repair rather than routine servicing, we cover that too.
