If you’ve made the decision to upgrade to electric gates, your property will be all the richer for it. You’ll soon benefit from the security, convenience and kerb appeal that electric gates bring.

But when it comes to choosing the right style for your property, it can be a bit of a minefield. Fortunately, we’re here to lend you the benefit of our vast experience! Here at TPS Gates & Doors Ltd, we’ve been the go-to automated gates specialists in Gloucestershire for more than 20 years. Read on to check out our top three tips for choosing the right electric gates for you.

1. Swing or slide?

This will probably come down to the layout of your property, but it’s worth considering both. While swing gates are great and certainly very popular, we’d recommend sliding gates if space is limited. And the best part about sliding electric gates is that you’ll enjoy full access to your driveway, regardless of the angle from which you’re approaching. However, if you have ample space available, there’s something impressively grand about gates swinging wide open to reveal your property!

2. Consider your property’s style

There’s a wealth of choice when it comes to electric gate styles, but ultimately you’ll want to choose something which complements your home. If you’ve got a smart, modern home, you’ll probably lean more towards ornate steel gate design, whereas if you live in a farmhouse-style property, a more rustic wooden electric gate would probably slot in more neatly.

3. Think about access control

There’s so much choice here, from standard push-button access all the way up to voice and video intercoms so that you can see and speak to any guests before letting them in. In the end, it’ll come down to your budget but it’s worth thinking about the day-to-day usability of your gates, and making sure they work for you.

Hopefully these tips will get you well on your way to choosing the perfect set of electric gates for your property. If you’re still not sure or you’d like to get an idea on prices, simply give us a call on 01172 810405 and we’ll happily help out.
