Which One Should You Choose: A Metal Electric Gate or A Wooden Electric Gate?

Having made the decision to have some new electric garden gates, the next question that these to be answered is whether to have metal electric gates or wooden electric gates. Of course, this choice can be made very simple through personal preference. Some of you may prefer the visual appeal of some carefully crafted wrought iron metal gates while others may prefer the more natural look of timber. Either way, with professionally installed electric gates from TPS Gates & Doors Ltd, you can be guaranteed the results will look fabulous.

The next, and quite important question to ask yourself relates to maintenance. Now here we are not saying that electric gates we install require continual maintenance-they don’t. However, installing new electric gates on your property is still an investment and you want to ensure that it will last as long as possible. As a consequence, general maintenance is required from time to time. Where metal gates are concerned this usually just means a good clean down and removal of any every six months to inhibit the growth of any algae.Quite often it is the location of the property that will decide which type of electric gates will look best. A more rustic-style wooden gate does not always look so good in the middle of town, while a Regency-style metal gate may look slightly out of place in a wooded surrounding in the middle of the countryside.

If you have new wooden gates installed again we would recommend that they are given a good clean every six months to stop any algae growth. However, word has a habit of drying out and if left untreated can fade in colour. We recommend every couple of years that the wood is “fed” every couple of years with a protective oil.
